How many calories are in your drink??
If you are trying to lose weight, or maintain a healthy weight, make sure you are tracking the calories in your drinks! Sneaky drinks can include coffee, energy drinks, juices, and alcohol.
Many of our patients do not realize how many calories they are drinking daily. For example, one patient was not losing weight while on a low-calorie diet. She was tracking everything she ate and still, her weight was not budging, which seemed impossible based on her calorie intake. We then asked her to make sure she was tracking foods AND drinks. After she tracked for one week, we realized she was drinking over 1000 calories per day in juices and frappuccinos!
Sugary drinks are the main source of sugar in the average American diet (CDC, 2022). Make sure you eliminate these from your diet as much as possible!4)
